TWINNING OF SKÅL CLUBS OF PHILADELPHIA & FRANKFURT

Attending the World Congress is where it all started.

The seed for the Twinning of the two clubs was planted at the World Congress in Taiwan. June Seminario, President of Philadelphia and Thomas Giesick, M.D.O. of Frankfurt found that their clubs shared common interests. With that a friendship was created and the idea of Twinning was born. Both clubs enthusiastically approved the idea and the Twinning Program process began.

On June 10th, 2009 three club members, June Seminario, Jim Hughel, and Frank Klare, SIUSA VP Region I and a prospective member, Dan Desmedt from Philadelphia were greeted in Frankfurt by the club’s President Thomas Hilberath; Thomas Giesick; Ursula Mühlens, Secretary; Herbert Hoffmann International Councillor for Germany and Jenny Nax who developed the program.

The Twinning Ceremony on June 12 th with a fabulous dinner at the InterContinental Hotel, of which Thomas Hilberath is General Manager, was the highlight of a three day celebration program that included a city tour, an apple wine pub visit, a Rhine River boat trip with vineyard stroll and dinner at a Skålleague’s Wine Restaurant and Hotel in Rüdesheim. The group also met members of the Skål Clubs of Wiesbaden, Bielefeld and Düsseldorf.

To commemorate the occasion June presented Thomas Hilberath with an engraved replica of Philadelphia’s historic Liberty Bell. Throughout the three days Skål camaraderie, fellowship and Frankfurt’s generous hospitality were always present while new friendships were formed.

When it was time to depart all agreed on a Wiedersehen when the Frankfurt Skålleagues will pay a visit to Philadelphia next year.

JUMELAGE ENTRE LES SKÅL CLUBS DE PHILADELPHIA & FRANKFURT AM MAIN

Tout a commencé lors du Congrès Mondial.

La graine pour le jumelage entre les deux clubs a été semée pendant le Congrès Mondial de Taiwan. June Seminario, Présidente de Philadelphia, et Thomas Giesick, D.R.M. de Frankfurt, ont découvert que leurs clubs ont des intérêts communs. Des liens d’amitié créés est née l’idée du jumelage. Les deux clubs ont accueilli l’idée avec enthousiasme et la procédure pour le programme de jumelage a été mise en place.

Le 10 juin 2009, trois adhérents du Club de Philadelphia, June Seminario, Jim Hughel et Frank Klare, VP Région I SIUSA, et un membre prospectif, Dan Desmedt, ont été accueillis à Francfort par le Président du Club, Thomas Hilberath ; Ursula Mühlens, Secrétaire ; Herbert Hoffmann, Conseiller International d’Allemagne ; et Jenny Nax qui a développé le programme.

Le 12 juin, la cérémonie de jumelage avec un fabuleux dîner à l’Hôtel InterContinental, dont Thomas Hilberath en est le Directeur Général, a été le clou du programme des festivités qui a duré trois jours, avec un city-tour, une visite à un pub de vin de pomme, une croisière sur la rivière Rhin, une ballade dans un vignoble et un dîner au Restaurant Wine d’un Skållègue, puis hôtel à Rudesheim. Le groupe a également rencontré des adhérents des Skål Clubs de Wiesbaden, Bielefeld et Düsseldorf.

Pour commémorer l’occasion, June a remis à Thomas Hilberath une réplique gravée de l’historique Cloche de la Liberté de Philadelphie. La camaraderie, l’amitié Skål et la généreuse hospitalité de Francfort ont été présents pendant les trois jours, ce qui a permis la création de nouvelles amitiés.

Au moment du départ, tout le monde a accordé un Wiedersehen jusqu’à la visite des Skållègues de Francfort à Philadelphie, l’année prochaine.

Todo comenzó con ocasión del Congreso Mundial.

La semilla que hizo brotar el hermanamiento entre los dos Clubes fue sembrada durante el Congreso Mundial de Taiwán. June Seminario, Presidente de Philadelphia, y Thomas Giesick, D.R.M. de Frankfurt, descubrieron que sus Clubes tenían intereses comunes. La idea del hermanamiento nació a raíz de los lazos de amistad creados. Ambos Clubes han acogido la idea con entusiasmo y el proceso para el programa de hermanamiento ya está en marcha.

El 10 de junio de 2009, tres socios del Club de Philadelphia, June Seminario, Jim Hughel y Frank Klare, VP Región I de SIUSA, y un miembro potencial, Dan Desmedt, fueron recibidos en Frankfurt por el Presidente del Club, Thomas Hilberath; Ursula Mühlens, Secretaria; Herbert Hoffmann, Consejero Internacional de Alemania; y Jenny Nax, quien ha desarrollado el programa.

Para conmemorar el evento, June hizo entrega de una réplica gravada de la histórica Campana de la Libertad de Filadelfia a Thomas Hilberath. La camaradería, la amistad Skål y la generosa hospitalidad de Frankfurt estuvieron presentes durante los tres días, lo que permitió la creación de nuevos lazo de amistad.
