MINUTES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The Minutes of the Annual General Assembly held in Antalya, Turkey on 6 and 7 November 2007 are now on the Skål International website, www.skal.org go to “Members Only Area” - “Documents”, click on General Assembly and select the Minutes.

69th SKÅL WORLD CONGRESS 
As you are no doubt aware the 69th Skål World Congress will be held in Taipei, Taiwan from 12-17 October 2008. Full details can now be found on the Skål International website www.skal.org go to Congress and click on Taipei 2008. Both China Airlines and Eva Air are giving discounted fairs and this information is also on the website. The information will be updated as it is received. Pre- and Post-Tours will be available shortly.

CONGRESS RESEARCH
Following the very successful congress in Antalya in November 2007, Skål International has conducted a survey among the members who attended that Congress. You can read the results of the research in English at the following hyperlink:

Their help is greatly appreciated. The results will help us to improve the congress and ensure a greater attendance in the future.

TIMELY REMINDER
We would like to give a timely reminder to Clubs and National Committees that payment of membership fees should be made on or before 28 February 2008 to avoid late payment penalty charges. Payment should be accompanied by an up-to-date membership list which includes current addresses, telephone and fax numbers and e-mail addresses. This information can also be submitted through the Skål International website www.skal.org. Forms 2 and 3, detailing officers for 2008/2009 should be submitted on or before 11 April 2008.
MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (MDO)
From Development Director, Tony Boyle. Following the recommendations of the Skål International Council Membership Development Committee, the Executive Committee has decided to create a new Club Executive position called Membership Development Officer (MDO). The MDO will be responsible for coordinating activities within the Club to grow the Club's membership.
The International Directory and Members Area of the Skål website will be updated to reflect this new position. All Clubs are requested to appoint a Membership Development Officer and submit the name and contact details of the MDO on the Form 2 which must be received by the Secretariat by 11 April 2008. .TRAVEL

BIT MILAN
The President of Skål International Italy, Sandra Biasutti has announced that Skål International Italy will again be involved with BIT Milan this year with a lecture on Ecotourism. The event will take place on Saturday 23 February at the Stella Polare Congress Centre, Sagittarius Room at 10.00am. The principle speaker will be Natasha Pulitzer, Architect of Synergia Progetti who is responsible nationally for the environment, security and energy at AIDDA. There will be two other speakers, Carlo Brondazza and Michaelangelo Maglienti. The moderator will be Salvatore Scalisi, Skål International Italy’s Councillor for Ecotourism and a member of Skål International Palermo.
Skål International Italy has also announced that in 2009 it will offer two prizes: (a) an education grant of €1,000 for a thesis on the study of ecotourism and (b) a prize to a member of Skål International Italy for the tourism company that has made the most innovations with regard to ecotourism.
ITB BERLIN
Skål International Berlin will again have a stand during ITB Berlin. Unlike previous years the stand will be inside Hall. In keeping with tradition the annual Skål lunch will be held in the Pullman lounge from 12.00 to 14.00 on Friday 7 March 2008. No reservation necessary. All Skålleagues are welcome.
The first edition of the new TourismTrade Fair “Le MAP” will be held in Paris from 13-17 March 2008 at Expo Paris, Porte de Versailles. A Skål luncheon organised by Skål International Paris will be held on Friday 14 March 2008 at the fair ground at 12.30pm. More information on the fair can be found at the following hyperlink:

IMEX 2008

ECORISMO
Yohann Robert, a member of Skål International Toulouse and a consultant in Sustainable Development of Tourism and the Environment would like to draw your attention to the Annual Forum and Trade Fair on Eco-products and environmental solutions for the hospitality and tourism industries which will take place on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 March 2008 at the Palais de Congrès, Arles, France. WORLD SKÅL DAY 2008
28 April 2008 is the 74th World Skål Day and commemorates Skål becoming an international association. Clubs should organise an event around World Skål Day each year. If your Club intends to organise an event, please let us know and we will be happy to publicise it for you internationally on the Skål website.
WORLD TOURISM DAY 2008
World Tourism Day 2008 will be hosted in Peru on 27 September 2008. The theme is “Tourism Responding to the Challenge of Climate Change”. Skål Clubs are urged to organise an event to commemorate this special day and to draw attention to this important theme.
